I can't figure out what size I am!!?

So i can't figure cut exactly what Jean size I am in american eagle. My measurements are 36 28 36 and according to their size chart a 36 inch is a size 4 but a 28 inch waist is a size 8? Do you think I should try a size 6? Also what body shape am I?
